Technology Overview
Active compounds are often susceptible to degradation due to various environmental factors such as heat, moisture, extreme pH, and the presence of enzymes. These factors can compromise the functional properties of bioactive substances, including flavors, aromas, vitamins, and the viability of beneficial microbes like probiotics. Encapsulation technology offers a protective barrier that shields these active compounds and beneficial microorganisms from external influences, preserving their efficacy and enabling controlled release over time.
Key Features & Benefits
Through extensive research efforts, KMUTT has developed a comprehensive range of encapsulation technologies. These encompass various encapsulation methods and an array of polymers designed to effectively encase active substances, offering protection and controlled release across diverse applications, including food, animal feed, and agriculture. Examples of technologies include microcapsules for encapsulating probiotics used to enhance the immune systems of shrimp, and capsules for encapsulating biocontrol agents.
